Healthy Living Forum - Please join us

The students in our FFA programs have an exciting event planned.

What:
Healthy Living Forum on Child Obesity - a forum sponsored by the student leaders of our FFA Program

When: 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the Commons at Appoquinimink High School (1080 Bunker Hill Road, Middletown, DE 19709)

Sponsors: The Middletown High & Appoquinimink High FFA Programs together with along with the New Castle County Cooperative Extension

Why are students from the FFA hosting this forum?
The FFA promotes exploration and excellence in the field of agricultural science – and we rely on a strong and bountiful agricultural industry to feed our nation.

One of the goals of our forum is to broaden the community’s understanding of, and support for, the nutritional importance of fresh food and produce in the diet of young adults and children. We also hope to make ASD families aware of the ready availability of locally-grown, fresh fruit and vegetable options - especially during the spring and summer months.

What will you be discussing?
There are three main points of discussion: Expect Personal Responsibility for Fitness (nutrition and Exercise), Invest in overall child well being, Change our culture to encourage fitness.

Our partner for the program is the University of Delaware/4-H Cooperative extension.

What will attendees take away with them in terms of knowledge and resources?
Thanks to a USDA grant, audience members will receive a wonderful training guide. We are also giving away free pedometers and to encourage regular exercise.

Who should come?
Parents, children, teens, everyone!
