The RMS National Junior Honor Society is a student run group made up of students who exhibit strong academics, community service, school activity participation and leadership potential. The students are invited to apply in the spring and then fill out a detailed application that is judged by a committee of building staff. Students accepted in the NJHS work on continued community service individually and with the group. RMS sponsored activities include assisting with the fall food drive, supplying a holiday dinner for a deserving RMS family in December, collecting soda tabs (for the Ronald McDonald House), Campbell’s labels, and box tops. Representatives of the group assist with 6th grade Open House each year. The group also sponsors a dance to raise funds for their activities.
Students wishing to be considered for the NJHS should maintain A’s and B’s in all classes, follow the Code of Conduct, participate in school activities and perform community service . Keep records of these activities and documentation such as letters signed by advisors or certificates of participation.
The group meets after school until 3:30 the 2nd Thursday or 5th Thursday of the month (9/10 & 9/17, 10/29, 12/10, 1/14, 3/11, 4/30, & 5/13). The Advisors are Mrs. S Thomas and Ms G. Valania.
